Akera was established in 2020 with a very simple purpose – to help our clients to tackle complex challenges and grow.
Akera is led by founders James Christou and Wade Bubner, who both love getting in the trenches with their growing team and doing whatever Akera can to help our clients develop new projects, expand into new markets, navigate uncertain situations and build better businesses.
Our name Akera is derived from the Greek word ‘akeraiotita’ – which represents integrity and refers to the state of being undivided. It symbolises an idea of wholeness, completeness, adhering to moral principles and maintaining a sense of honor.
These principles guide our team decisions – we work with clients and partners that share our values, appreciate our expertise and challenge us to deliver great work. Our team is super proud of what we have achieved so far, and even more excited about what the future holds…

James Christou Founder
James brings deep experience in the energy sector, having worked across the value chain including network services providers, major infrastructure contractors and project developers.
James is a trusted adviser – unassuming and understated, proactively anticipating and solving issues before they are a problem.
With a passion for technology, James gets excited about finding more efficient ways to get things done.
When James is not working, he is happiest…flying light aircraft, keeping his two very active boys entertained, or tinkering on a new project.
Wade Bubner Founder
Wade has worked on some of Australia’s largest and most complex infrastructure projects.
He brings a strategic and commercial approach to client engagements, drawing on a diverse range of management experience across government and industries, both in Australia and overseas.
Wade enjoys helping his clients navigate challenging situations, relying on his ability to understand complex stakeholders and build trusted relationships.
When Wade is not working, he is happiest…enjoying the simple things – the beach with friends and family, cooking a BBQ feast or cracking a good bottle of wine.
Shane Davis Senior Manager
Shane brings a unique mix of strategic thinking and project management expertise to the Akera team.
Combining MBA qualifications with his own previous experience running an electrical contracting business, Shane is a creative problem solver who is rarely flustered.
He delivers high quality work to tight deadlines, with particularly deep experience managing complex third-party infrastructure interfaces including power, water, rail, gas, telecommunications, mining and defence.
His professionalism, quick wit and humility means Shane is loved by the teams he works with.
When Shane is not working he is happiest…renovating, getting off the grid or eyeing off his next high-end guitar purchase!
